The King William's War (U.S. War #2)

The King William's war was the first French and Indian War.  King William's War took place from 1689-1697 and was the name used in the English colonies in North America.  This war was often called the Grand Alliance and primarily took place on the mainland of Europe.  It also encompassed Ireland and North America.  This war began after William of Orange was declared King of England and quickly removed his unpopular predecessor, James II in the Glorious revolution of May 1689. William joined the League of Augsburg against France.   The Treaty of Ryswick in 1697 ended the war between the two colonial powers.
